BU Medical - Department of Otolaryngology

Our program, like most training programs in Otolaryngology- Head & Neck Surgery, is very competitive. Accordingly, we believe that "the Match" is the best and fairest system for all, and we strictly adhere to it. All residents are selected through the Otolaryngology Matching Program. Obtain applications from the Otolaryngology Matching Program, P.O. Box 7584, San Francisco, CA 94l20-7584.

Please note:the match is for the first year otolaryngology, not for the first year of surgery which must be handled through the NRMP. Candidates who are matched with our training program are assigned to the Boston Medical Center Hospital's general surgical program for their PGY-l year. However, for your protection, you should apply to other surgery programs through the NRMP in the event that you do not match with our Program). Otolaryngology has an early "match" (January).

WHEN TO APPLY: End of Junior Year or early part of Senior Year.

INTERVIEWS:

  • WHEN- One day during a weekend in November/December
  • WHO- The Chairman/Program Director and twelve other faculty members interview the candidates
  • OTHER- You will have an opportunity to speak with the programs residents through out the day, and at luncheon which is provided.
