Contents and staffing:
Bench space and fully equipped molecular biology laboratory staffed by a full time Ph.D. molecular biologist, and a Research Technician.

Its purpose is to investigate the molecular biology of head and neck cancer, to develop protocols that will correlate cancers clinical behavior with molecular structure, and to support resident research efforts.

Staffing and Content:
The Department of Otolaryngology is part of the Hearing Research Center at Boston University. The Center is housed in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, but is comprised of many individuals and departments. Numerous different research projects are currently in progress with multiple funding sources. An annual report is available to describe the extent of the Center's activities.

In addition to the ongoing research, efforts have been underway to obtain an NIH training grant, which would have a component for Otolaryngology resident training in research.
Furthermore, residents have at their disposal most of the laboratories in the Hearing Research Center in which they can participate during their research rotation.
