L. Clarke Cox, Ph.D., FAAA, CCC-A

Clarke Cox is Chief of Audiology at Boston University Medical Center (BUMC)/Boston Medical Center(BMC). He also has an academic appointment at Sargent College, Boston University, and a research affiliation at Brandies University.   He received his doctorate in Audiology from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Audiology from Utah State University.   He has been affiliated with BUMC since 1988 and BMC since its formation in 1996.

Prior to coming to Boston, Dr. Cox was an Assistant/Associate Professor of Audiology at Cleveland State University, Cleveland, OH.  He also had a research affiliation with Rainbow Babies & Childrens Hospital in Cleveland.. While in Cleveland he did some of the early work with auditory brainstem response and the neonatal/premature infant population.
           
Since coming to Boston, Dr. Cox has done research in evoked response with neonates and adults with published data on the auditory brainstem response.  Recently his research has focused on the auditory and cognitive aspects of aging with respect to communication in the elderly.  At BMC, Dr. Cox sees a variety of pediatric and adult  patients with hearing and balance disorders.
