She is also teacher certified in secondary education. Lori is the recipient of the Herbert H. Lehman distinguished scholar award, and graduated summa cum laude from both institutions. She went on to complete her Clinical Fellowship Year at the Veterans Administration in Boston and practiced as a clinical audiologist at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary before returning to Boston University in 1980.

Lori specializes in pediatric and adult diagnostic audiology and performs comprehensive hearing evaluations including advanced electrophysiologic measures to evaluate hearing, balance and auditory processing disorders. She also participates in multidisciplinary team assessments and provides recommendations to educators and parents to insure that school age children with hearing loss and other auditory disorders are accommodated in the classroom.

Lori stresses the importance of hearing conservation, and provides hearing monitoring and ear protection management to individuals exposed to work related or recreational noise exposure including musicians and singers. Lori enjoys working with geriatric patients and refers patients of all ages for hearing aids and other assistive listening technologies to help patients learn to use their sense of hearing to improve their communication skills. In addition to clinical patient care, Lori supervises audiology graduate students in various levels of training and has provided in-service teaching to medical and support staff on a variety of audiology topics.

Lori helped develop the first off-site satellite community audiology program located at the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. She served for many years as a member of the special scientific staff under former Chief of Otolaryngology, M. Stuart Strong M.D. and conducted clinical research trials for the Framingham Heart Study (NINCDS) and Otitis Media Study (NIH). Her current clinical interests include use of functional MRI and late auditory evoked potentials in the diagnosis of auditory processing disorders. Outside of work, Lori continues to participate in professional continuing education development and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.  She lives in the Metrowest Boston area with her husband and two college age daughters.
